The role

As Design Engineer Marine Engineering at Damen Naval, you will play a critical role in developing marine engineering solutions and translating them into detailed requirements. Working within the technical team of a tender, you will collaborate closely with the Tender Manager, Proposal Engineer, and Manager Marine Engineering to perform design tasks and draft reports and specifications. Your work will contribute directly to the success of our projects, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and functionality.

Key accountabilities

As Design Engineer Marine Engineering your key responsibilities will include:

• Perform design and reporting activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
• Contribute to requirements analysis, draft marine engineering specifications, and support RFQ processes and evaluations.
• Evaluate designs against requirements and prepare corresponding reports.
• Write technical documents, equipment specifications, contract specifications, and reports, effectively communicating complex concepts and data.
• Facilitate communication with stakeholders to gather input and ensure alignment on technical solutions.
• Participate in discussions with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders on technical aspects of proposed solutions.
• Support cost evaluations provided by suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal departments to optimize project outcomes.

Skills & experience

To excel as Design Engineer Marine Engineering, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:

• Bachelor or Master degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least one year of relevant experience in design concepts and practices, preferably in complex naval projects.
• Experience in advanced design and proposal processes within the marine engineering domain.
• Good command of the Dutch and English language both written and verbal.
• Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
• Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required and candidates with NL/EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
