The role

As the Proposal Engineer Electrical and Automation within the Proposals team at Damen Naval, you will be pivotal in developing customer requirements into precise requirements during precontract activities. Working within the technical team of a tender, you will execute (sub) design tasks under the guidance of the Tender Manager and Manager Electrical & Automation. Since we have offices in Vlissingen and Schiedam, you are expected to frequently visit these offices.

Key accountabilities

As the Proposal Engineer Electrical and Automation, your key responsibilities will include:

• Coordinate design and reporting activities to ensure progress and quality.
• Perform requirement analysis, concept development, and evaluation of design options.
• Develop system architecture, electric load balance, and electrical and automation specifications.
• Evaluate designs against requirements and prepare reports.
• Deliver Electrical and Automation designs complying to the set requirements.
• Lead discussions with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders on the technical aspects of proposed solutions.
• Facilitate communication with stakeholders to gather input and ensure alignment on technical solutions.
• Support cost evaluations provided by suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal departments to optimize project outcomes.

Skills & experience

To excel as the Proposal Engineer Electrical and Automation, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:

• Bachelor or Master degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics or mechanical engineering
• 3+ years of experience in designing electrical and automation solutions, preferably acquired in the shipbuilding, offshore or maritime sector.
• Expertise in a variety of design concepts and practices, including technologically advanced design and proposal processes.
• Good command of the English language both written and verbal.
• Willing to travel between Schiedam and Vlissingen and v.v. regularly and abroad occasionally.
• Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
• Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required and candidates with NL/EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
