We interact directly with Damen customers around the world, helping to find solutions for challenging situations.

As Proposal Engineer, you will design together with the Product responsible the appropriate maritime solution to cover customer requirements. In due process, you as Proposal Engineer will be a sparring partner for Account Management and advise on risk-mitigating measures, terms and conditions and pricing.

You will think of solutions in the Services that we deliver, parts packages, training programs and maintenance solutions.

This is a good fit if you like to do the following:

• Collaborate with Account Management / Sales and the Client to understand their drivers, issues, expectations, requirements and competitive landscape.
• Collect, create and analyze information to estimate cost, time, labor and materials for project execution.
• Work with stakeholders throughout the project process to achieve market competitive project pricing. This includes cooperation with Supply Chain and Account Management.
• Standardize and develop Services within the Services portfolio (such as, training, vessel dockings, vessel conversions, comprehensive spares packages).
• Participate in tender teams and tender deliverable development.
• Upon effective order, arrange handover (kick-off) from D&P Services to the project execution team.
• Stay involved during project execution to obtain feedback to improve future proposals.

We ask our future Proposal Engineer to come prepared with the following:

• A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Shipbuilding or Maritime Engineering or equal;
• Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch is a pre, other modern languages are considered an asset;
• You are: Result-oriented, a "Proposal Engineer" with initiative and commercial skills;
• Decisive and at the same time flexible in your approach and works methodically;
• Able to influence, put things into perspective and also know how to have the patience that is sometimes needed to achieve results;
• Customer-oriented;
• Well able to manage expectations;
• Willing to occasionally travel.
